Fire at Smokin’ Joe’s Saloon on South Side likely started by electrical issue

Fire investigators were called to the scene following a report of a fire alarm at the building that houses Smokin’ Joe’s Saloon on Pittsburgh’s South Side.

Fire crews were first called to the 2000 block of East Carson Street a little after 3:30 a.m. Monday for a report of a fire alarm.

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire tells us there was a fire outside a room in the building. Investigators believe the cause of the fire is an electrical problem. They are looking into possible code violations.

A Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 photojournalist saw no visible fire damage at the scene, and it was not immediately clear if the incident involved the business or the apartments on the upper levels of the building.

No injuries were reported.
